USA - Press room - News - EXPAL USA receives $156 million U.S. army contract

The contract consists on demilitarization, recycling, reuse, and disposal of various conventional munitions.

“The EXPAL USA team has been able to exploit the vast experience of other EXPAL plants around the world to win this key contract” said Steve Dart, CEO of EXPAL USA. “This contract is the first step into demilitarization activities in the USA”.

EXPAL manages the entire lifecycle of ammunitions and explosives, from their design, development and manufacturing to their destruction at the end of their working life. EXPAL has more than 40 years of experience in demilitarization services, with four demilitarization plants in Europe, and demilitarization activities in Asia and South America.

EXPAL USA’s main activities are demilitarization, the development of new energetics for the DoD and load assembly and packing operations for conventional ammunition.

All demilitarization activities for this contract will be carried out in U.S.A., with a special focus on the recycling of the generated materials. Expal recycling rates are above 95% and its proprietary processes enable energetic material to be reused in the civil explosives industry.

Work on this contract will be performed at EXPAL USA’s facilities in Texas with an estimated completion date of June 2020.
