West Africa - About us - Operational sites

Twenty years after its founding, MAXAM Ghana has become a leading participant in major gold, manganese, bauxite and quarry granite extraction operations throughout the country. MAXAM Ghana offers its clients the highest level of customer support services, including blast hole loading, priming and initiation, technical services, magazines and inventory management, blast optimization programs designed to reduce costs and increase mining/quarrying efficiencies and maintains a leading-edge stance in explosive and accessory technology.

This diversity and level of excellence has led to MAXAM Ghana’s participation in projects including the KETA Sea Defence project, the dredging of the Tema Port, underwater blasting for the Takoradi thermal plant, and the Mubarak underwater blasting project, amongst many others.

MAXAM Ghana is WestAfrica’s sole supplier of RIODIN dynamite alternative, employed by quarrying companies that do not wish to use emulsions.

With production facilities in Loulo, Gounkoto and Morila, MAXAM Mali provides a wide variety of RIOFLEX watergel products and Flexitrucks to carry out open pit gold mining operations throughout the country.

The subsidiary stands out for its excellence in uphole mining operations, which require the load of vertical boreholes in underground mining operations with RIOMEX emulsion. With 130 employees, MAXAM Mali supplies products and services to such major international mining companies as Rangold Resources Limited and Anglogold Ashanti, and is currently operating within underground mines in Yalea North and Gara (Loulo), and open pit mines in Gounkoto and Morila.

Over a decade of excellence has allowed MAXAM Cameroun SARL to take a leadership position within the country’s market, as well as that of Central Africa at large.

This growing subsidiary is participating in key projects such as the construction of the Kribi deep-water port and several highways connecting the capital with key cities in the country’s northern regions.

MAXAM launched its operations in Mauritania in 2014 as a key player in Kinross’ Tasiast Mine.

Amongst other products, MAXAM’s Mauritania operations employ the use of the flagship RIOFLEX high energy 10000, the highly water resistant 7000, and powered 5000 bulk explosives; RIOTRONIC and RIONEL MS and SCX detonators; RIOCORD detonating cords; RIOGUR cap sensitive watergels (especially designed for contour and presplit blasting applications); and RIOBOOSTER high velocity explosives.
